Gary Oaks, 1957—2016
Gary Oaks was 10 days short of his 59th birthday when he was found dead of pneumonia in a Ballard alley on May 5, 2016. He was know and beloved in the area. He had temporarily stayed at Tent City 5. Pastor Britt Olson of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church was asked to come and gave him a blessing. WHEEL Women in Black stood vigil for Gary on May 18th. Gary’s Leaf is placed at Ballard Commons Park. Jonathan Paul “J.P.” Stanton, 1979—2016
From Jonathan’s obituary in the Petaluma Argus-Courier: STANTON, Jonathan Paul (J.P.) Passed away on January 17, 2016 in Seattle, WA. He was the only son of Roger and D. Sonia Stanton (aka: Krissy) and the only brother to Alexsis Stanton and uncle to Parker Alan. Jonathan was an accomplished sous-chef at Cornish University, talented finish carpenter, and devoted friend to those who knew him. And he left too soon. Obituary from Port Townsend Leader: Myles Sebastian Carroll passed away in Seattle, Washington on Christmas Eve, 2015. Born in Oakland, California on March 12, 1991, to Deborah Carroll and Jeff Kelety, Myles was a musician, an artist and an intensely free spirit who lived life completely on his own terms.
