Lacresha died under the 4th Avenue South bridge on December 5, 2020. She was beloved at Angeline’s and many other places. Women in Black stood vigil for Lacresha on December 30, 2020. Andrew Busch 1985–2020
Andrew died September 1, 2020, in an encampment fire at 7th and Seneca. Women in Black held a vigil for Andrew, and one of his friends later posted this eulogy on our Facebook page: Dec’lan-Amadeus Colburn I: Rest in peace, Andrew Josef Busch. 35 is too young. Kyle Bradford 1991–2021
Kyle was born February 10, 1991. He died at Harborview on May 13, 2021 from an infection. His caseworker, Melissa Cohen, says “Kyle was kind and funny, he will be missed.’ Kyle stayed in the Pioneer Square area near 3rd and James. His Leaf is on the 4th Avenue side of Seattle City Hall. Lisa Vach 1982–2020
Lisa was described by friends as kind, and funny, and an artist. She was murdered in Cal Anderson Park on September 16, 2020, at 38. Many of Lisa’s friends stood vigil for her with Women in Black on September 23rd. WHEEL is profoundly grateful to announce the reopening of our Women’s Empowerment Center, a self-managed Sunday Arts and Education program at our WHEEL First Presbyterian Shelter (715 Spring Street) every Sunday from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, open to all homeless and formerly homeless women. Lantz Rowland 1956–2017
Lantz was born January 10, 1956 and died December 31, 2017. He was an iconic leader in the SHARE community. He lived at Tent City 3 for many years and had several roles in SHARE including member of the elected Board. He was very politically astute, which influenced the choice of location for his Leaf. Bryan “Fox” Bracken 1975–2020
Fox was well known at SHARE and WHEEL—mischievous, troublesome, likeable. He coined the phrase “fallenleaves” for the Homeless Remembrance Project. Buford Eddy McGahee Terwilleger was born November 6, 1975 in Moab, Utah. He died in his tent in Woodland Park, Seattle on October 29, 2020. His mother, Susan Cornell Smith, requested a Leaf for him, and his friend Paul, who joined our Women in Black vigil for Buford, suggested the location. Ian Cummings 1989–2019
Ian was born March 5, 1989. He died August 17, 2019, in the greenbelt near the Aloha. Women in Black stood vigil for Ian in September 2019 and his mother, Mary Cummings, called to request a Leaf for him. She, and a cousin who also called, said that Ian was a very lovable person.
