Latesa Burgess, 1969—2017
From Latesa’s Memorial Service:
“The ‘TINY’ woman with a BIG heart!
Latesa was born on June 3rd, 1969 to the union of Jackie and Wallace Burgess (deceased).
She attended Rainier Beach High School where she met her first love and the father of her three beautiful children, Darryl Wigfall Sr., and for more than 20 years it was always Big “D” and Aunty Tesa.
Latesa has always been so “Full of Life.” She lived life out loud, welcoming everyone not only into her home but her heart. Aunty Tesa loved every child that entered her life. Cooking was her thing, she fed everyone who was in her presence and put smiles on the faces of those who crossed her path.
Having given birth to three children she was affectionately known and “Momma Tesa” to every young person she has come into contact with. Latesa’s love for cooking and laughter led her to give back within her community, cooking within the shelters and providing comfort to some of Seattle’s homeless population, where she was given the nick name “TINY” the l’il woman with the BIG HEART!… always willing to go above and beyond for others!
On December 7th, 2017 Latesa was called home to where she will reside in perfect peace alongside her Grandmother Florida Kemper and the man who lovingly raised her, Jack Royal (aka Mack Jack).
She leaves to cherish her memories her three loving children Darryl (l’il man) Wigfall Jr, Kiana (Nani) and Jaden Wigfall, two siblings Treva Glasper and Jerome Vassar and Brothers in love Mark & Randy Royal.
Having recently reconnected with her Burgess family they and a village of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and Friends that she has always treated as FAMILY.”
Latesa spent her last days at Rose of Lima House.
Her Leaf is placed at Noel House. If you have any photos or memories of Latesa, please post a comment below.
