Daravuth Van 1971—2024

An early morning jogger found a homeless man, 52-year-old Cambodian American Daravuth Van, dead in front of Town Hall on First Hill on February 22, 2024.  The death, determined by Seattle Police to be murder, by an axe, sent a shockwave through the First Hill neighborhood, especially the homeless community.  WHEEL and nearby First Hill businesses helped crowdsource surveillance footage to aid the police investigation, and a suspect was charged March 6.
