Jeffrey Inman, 1956—2012
Jeffrey was a veteran and a member of God’s Li’l Acre, a day center and community run by the Seattle Mennonite Church. He lived, at various times, at McDermott Place and the Shelter at Fire Station 39 in Lake City. He died at his outdoor sleeping spot, at the intersection of 125th and 35th, on March 7, 2012. Randy Leonard, 1958—2010
Randy Leonard was born April 24, 1958. He passed away February 2, 2010 on the streets in Lake City. Randy was a homeless veteran. He possessed many talents and interests including harmonica, painting, fixing cars, and construction work. Randy was well loved and is missed greatly. He is survived by five children. Eva Washington, 1932—2011
After coming to God’s Li’l Acre for a couple of years, as a quite elderly woman, Eva was invited to move into the home of one of the center’s volunteers. She lived with this family until her peaceful passing two years later on December 11, 2011. There was nothing fancy about the ‘housing’ program, just a family who made a connection with Eva and were family to her in her last years. Eva is warmly remembered by many at God’s Li’l Acre for colorful clothing and a huge heart, and named “Mama of the Park.” Eva’s Leaf is at the Seattle Mennonite Church in Lake City. Pearl Cahall, July 9, 1912—June 20, 2000
“I used to sleep in the bed next to Pearl’s. I watched as the procession of nurses and social workers came through trying to move Pearl into another place. They would argue with her and argue with her and leave, one by one.
