Laten Arnold Jenkins, Jr 1981–2020

Laten slept for years outside the Seattle Medical-Dental Building and was known and beloved by many who worked there, who requested a Leaf be placed for him where he slept.  His Leaf was dedicated on October 22, 2021 and laid on April 6, 2022.

Laten’s brother Lawrence said of him, “Laten was a loving, honest, caring, funny, brilliant, yet simple man. He was a son, a big brother, a cousin, and an uncle. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed” and more in his eulogy at Seattle Emerald.

I remember Laten from when my mom moved from Alaska to Seattle to attend University of Washington around 1994; we both lived in the Sand Point area. We became best friends at the time. We loved playing basketball after school, just hanging out, doing everything together, we were inseparable, but a year later we moved back to Alaska. Me and him lost touch over the years. I came to Seattle 2013 for a vacation with my wife. I was walking downtown, and I saw him. He did not remember me. I told him several times, but he was in a different state of mind. I cried afterwards seeing he ended up on the streets. When I found out about his passing I cried again, knowing he was my first best friend. Rest In Peace my friend

Sincerely your friend, Arnold Huntington from Koyukuk, Alaska
