    Anna was “Always helpful to others that didn’t have.  Was sassy but sweet.  Had a love for music—she loved Old School and Jazz.  So so was a giver.  Started off with a frown but ended up with a smile.  Strong warrior.  Compassionate soul.  Had a deep love for her family; they were her heart.” Her Leaf is at Angeline’s/Opportunity Place.   • Joyce Van Hollebeke 1958—2014

    From Joyce’s Obituary: “Born on February 14, 1958 in Canada; she was a First Nations Native American. Joyce spent time with 7 families before she came to live with our great big one, she was only 6 years old at that time. Joyce had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make you laugh. She had an enormous capacity to love, not just people but animals too and was most fond of our Irish setter, Tara.

    On August 22nd, we laid five additional leaves in Pioneer Square. Abel Gonzalez and Brandon Jeffrey Mickelson were honored at the Compass Housing Alliance, and Gerald “TC Willie” Aust, Patrick Joseph, and Arthur Lee Lassiter were each honored at DESC.

  • August 27th Leaf Dedications, Belltown

    3 PM NEXT WEDNESDAY, August 27th we’ll dedicate three new Leaves (for Lori Dillon, Jennie Wilcox and Anna “Soso” White) at Angeline’s Day Center (2025 Third Avenue), and then will move to a 3:30 PM dedication of two new Leaves (for Lynda Van Sant and Joyce Van Hollebeke) at Noel House/Bakhita Gardens (2nd and Bell).  There’ll be a reception and fellowship afterwards on the Bell Street Boulevard!

  • August 22nd Leaf Dedications, Pioneer Square

    The Homeless Remembrance Project invites you to join us starting at 2 PM THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 22nd at the Compass Housing Alliance (65 S. Washington) as we dedicate two new Leaves (for Abel Gonzales and Brandon Jeffrey Mickelson) there, and then move to a 2:30 PM dedication of three new Leaves (for Gerald “TC Willie” Aust, Patrick Joseph, and Arthur Lassiter) at DESC (517 Third).  There’ll be a light reception afterwards at the Morrison.

    From Sandra Aust: “Jerry was a good friend to everyone.  Willing to help out a brother or sister in need.  I will never forget his sense of humor and how he could make me laugh.  He made everyone laugh and feel good about themselves.  Jerry was a hard worker, he volunteered at the DESC and was always moving and working or helping someone in need.  For awhile he was in Tent City2 and everyone called him TC Willie because of his long ponytail like Willie Nelson.  I know he touch my life in a profound and wonderful way and Jerry was a brother to men and women alike he was…

  • Arthur Lee Lassiter, 1966—2013

    From Jessica Barker: “Arthur lived much of his adult life outside or in shelters and dealt with chronic severe medical issues until his passing at the age of 46, at (Rainier House. His primary goal was to obtain housing, which he achieved and lived the last 1.5 years in his own apartment. He fought hard for his life. Arthur’s Leaf is at DESC.
