From the Leaf Requester, a DESC staffperson: “Montie passed away at the shelter, which he called home since early 2015. He was an independent and self-sufficient man, up until his death in January when he lost his battle to cancer. Montie had many friends at DESC and was loved by his community. He is survived by his 10-year-old son. ”
